A native of Miami, Florida, Kara graduated college with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Elon University in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she met her husband, Tyler. She and her husband both attended graduate school at Ohio State University where she earned her Master of Science in Biology. While working as a research biologist, Kara published three peer-reviewed papers focused on the study of Ecology as well as published her Master’s Thesis.

In 2013, Kara and her husband moved to Nashville where she discovered her new passion – the law. Bringing the same dedication she has for science to the study of law, Kara graduated with her Juris Doctorate from the prestigious Belmont University College of Law and achieved her law license.

Having established an interest in family law and domestic relations during law school, Kara opened her own practice. She has focused on helping families achieve their goals in both the Circuit Courts and Juvenile Courts in middle Tennessee.

Kara joined The Rushton Law Firm, PLLC in early 2019 where she continues to grow and hone her craft. She brings her energy and passion for the law to the table as well as an attention to detail and caring for her clients.

In her spare time, Kara enjoys cooking, painting, volunteering with Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue, and fantasy football.
